About the Campus

Get to know the New Mexico campus

Intel began operations in New Mexico in 1980 with 25 employees on a small piece of land previously used as a sod farm. Today, more than 1,800 employees develop and manufacture technology that powers data centers and hundreds of millions of smart and connected devices worldwide. Our Rio Rancho campus is an important part of Intel’s global technology development and manufacturing network supporting both our Silicon Photonics technology, as well as Foveros, Optane™ development and NAND Pathfinding and Research work. In May 2021, Intel announced a $3.5 billion investment to equip our New Mexico operations for the manufacturing of advanced semiconductor packaging technologies.
